A little about me...

Professional Experience & Training

Helping others comes naturally to me. I am a registered Social Worker, psychotherapist & Certified Sound Therapy Practitioner with over 23 years of experience. I specialize in the treatment of anxiety, depression and trauma. Ultimately though, I am comfortable working with people with all sorts of different issues, diagnoses, backgrounds and life experience. I see clients from across the life span and most of my clients are professionals, artists, as well as students.

Strengthening our mental health directly increases the capacity to live the life we want and improves our relationships and life dramatically. Many people are struggling with their mental health in isolation. The good news is there are ways to shift how we feel and reduce our symptoms. I love my work and have seen how the power of connection transforms us. My technique is grounded in traditional psychodynamic talk therapy, attachment therapy, mindfulness, bioenergetics, and Sensorimotor Psychotherapy. In addition, I have training in Relational Cultural Therapy, Cognitive Behaviour therapy (CBT) Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) Bioenergetics, Solution Focused Therapy, Sound Therapy, Parts Work, as well as Restorative Yoga.

Some of my past professional experience includes: counselling young women in recovery, providing trauma therapy to vulnerable clients at a community health centre and providing case management services for at-risk clients living in social housing. I also spent three year working in Southern Africa on several different community development projects. I have had the privilege of working with diverse individuals from around the world who are facing a variety of mental health issues and challenging life circumstances.

I hold a Master of Social Work Degree with a specialization in Health and Mental Health from the University of Toronto as well as a Bachelor of Social Work Degree from Toronto Metropolitan University. My practice is informed by the exceptional training I received at Women’s College Hospital and Sensorimotor Psychotherapy which is a body-centered approach that aims to treat the somatic symptoms of unresolved trauma. I offer both online and in-person therapy, I have an office and sound studio at Bay and Wellesley.

I also supervise social work and psychotherapy students and offer support to colleagues who are just opening their practice.

In addition, I am a certified Sound Therapy Practitioner and create private sound bath therapy experiences for my clients using quartz crystal bowls and various other sound healing instruments at my office. I am also the co-founder of Sound Reponses Wellness which offers interactive online and in-person Sound-Based Stress Reduction™ workshops and sound bath experiences. Sound Reponses Wellness combines mental health education, stress reduction techniques and sound therapy to empower individuals and groups to manage their everyday stress. I co-authored a workshop series called the, “Healing Power of Sound” for Sound Response Wellness in which participants learn: how stress impacts mood and body, the importance of boundaries, the role of self-compassion, as well as simple techniques for reducing stress and lower anxiety. I also run a semi-private psychotherapeutic talk and sound-based therapy group called, “Sound and Connection”.

In my spare time, I play with a Sound Healing band called, “The SoundBody Collective” who host monthly sound baths. I also sing in a band and love to connect with others through the power of sound and music
